Beautiful. My partner died, coming up to 7 years ago. I sent 500g of his ashes to Switzerland and after some months, a diamond was formed .. l made a ring with it 💙💙💙
Needless to say, the ring hasn’t left my finger … they have the technology that develops a real diamond. They all have a blue hue, the amount of carbon determines the tone 🙏🏼💙
Oh, Amanda, what a beautiful essay and tribute. I wish, all these years later, that we'd had my son cremated, though that wasn't on our minds when he died suddenly. I'd love to be able to carry a piece of him always. Your words are moving and so well crafted...keep writing. We need you in the conversation. ❤️
Thank you, Casey. I understand the sentiment with your son. My mom was buried and looking back I do wish she had been cremated as well. But whatever we choose in those moments is okay. Wishing you the happiest holidays. Thank you for always encouraging me and my writing!
This touched my heart. What a beautiful tribute to your brother. I am so glad you wrote this. My niece brought my part of my mother's ashes to me and I have been wanting to have a piece of jewelry made so I can take her with me wherever I go! Thank you.
Thank you for your sweet words. I used Close By Me Jewelry and I found them to be amazing if you are looking for a recommendation for your Mom's ashes. I love that you are considering it, it was the best money I ever spent!
Thank you so much!! I have been thinking about this for months. I will have to do it when I visit the US next time. I looked at the website and it is exactly what I was thinking of. Thank you!
This is heartfelt. I appreciate your sharing it. Deciding what to do with ashes is so difficult as it's the last little bit of your person. And these decisions have to be made at a time when we are not feeling grounded. I love your solution and your beautiful ring❤️
Your comment is so true, they are the literal last particles of them, and they feel so precious that it can feel daunting to decide. Thank you for reading and connecting to the piece.
This essay is absolutely beautiful. So sorry for your loss, but thank you for writing about it. I had not heard about this kind of artistic treatment of ashes. Very poignant.
Oh, my, Amanda. Thank you for sharing this. I lost my brother four years ago to COVID and know that unique grief that is felt when losing a sibling. I see you.

What a beautiful story. Not morbid at all. Just full of love.
Thank you Eileen. So much love I get to keep with me.
Nice way to always be able to carry your brother with you. NOT morbid at all. Fondly, Michael

I'm sorry for your loss Michele, it is a unique loss. Sending you comfort over the holidays.
Received and sent your way, too. ♥
I understand this. I had my dad’s ashes put into a decoration on an ornate brass cross, so he can travel with us everywhere we go.
Thank you for reading Kim, and I like that idea also. Keeps them close.
Beautifully written! Love, your biggest fan!
xo. Thanks for doing the hard part.
