I certainly need to know that things can be good again. Most of the year has been 29 shades of shit. This is a good way of assessing that there might have been some good in it. Somewhere.
You've just given me the best idea for Christmas for my family and friends. I'm going to give each of them a good things jar! What a wonderful gift you give yourself. Recognizing that there are so many good things each day and each year will surely help get past some of the difficulties we face. Thank you for this!
I really loved this piece, and the visual imagery of collecting life’s joyful moments… in objects, but also the routine of the practice. I’m a noticer- I like to pay attention to the so called little things. This is a beautifully written reminder to focus on the good. 💗
I started doing a Good Stuff jar in 2020, the year after my husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Even in the face of his serious and terminal illness, we found we could find joy, be grateful, celebrate. He died in November of 2022, and I couldn't bring myself to fill the jar in 2023. But I started again, and this year's version is already filling up. It's become an important ritual for me. Thank you for sharing your feelings about the practice.
My condolences to you on his passing. I am so glad you are filling up the jar again! It’s such a good practice that makes you really pay attention to all the good that gets lost in the shuffle.
This reminds me of the warmth and home of scrapbooking. I absolutely love the idea of a good things jar!
That’s a great way to think of it!

That would be an amazing gift!
