Christopher, thank you for your writing, your activism, your courage and most of all for sharing your voice and giving others encouragement to do the same. You, we all, deserve to be heard. You are doing important work and I am sharing your story with my family, friends and fellow activists. Now, especially in these times, is when we must hear from all of us and put those in power on notice - they are outnumbered and we will not be silenced.

Christopher, thank you. Incredible piece. I loved reading about this program. Just this week I read about a film festival in San Quentin. Really inspiring stuff.

If he’s taken “full accountability” for his crimes, why not just call it what it is? Murder. He’s a murderer. He killed someone while robbing them. And adding “during a drug robbery” seemingly minimizes it further, because it infers the victim was a drug dealer, so maybe he deserved it. Kudos for trying to make something of a troubled life, but if he is trying to “humanize people who come from communities like mine” maybe he should start with his victim.
