Beautiful. Years ago we went through a large downsizing to start a life of living on the road. I, too, was ruthless, and I found it incredibly liberating. By the time I started going through my daughter’s early-childhood things, I’d seen a post from a friend who’d gone through her parents’ attic and was delighted by some of her old treasures she’d found. That gave me pause. What might my daughter like to rediscover as an adult? From then on, I purged with that in mind. And yes, I kept her old pillowcases. :-)

Ah, now that's downsizing! Glad you kept the pillowcases, they really hold so much.

A lovely, comfy pillow full of family history. I love pillows and pillow cases, and we have plenty, even living on our small sailboat.

Yes, the ultimate cozy comfort! Living on a sailboat sounds like a dream :)

What a beautiful story about the connection to the past. It's so fascinating to me what one person or generation feels is their heirloom or legacy.

Thank you, Timmarie. I honestly didn't realize this until I started writing, but once I did it became so clear.
