Thanks so much for sharing this - the economic wages of divorce for women (mostly) is still devastating. Also, you've pointed to the problem with the income shares model for child support, making the results so real and deeply felt.
Thanks for this beautifully written piece that expresses well the issues and feelings of those of us who have to go to pantries, even though we're not dirt poor enough for government aid. I am sure this helps others understand the circumstances.
Thank you for this. It resonates deeply. Divorce is horrible but food insecurity is worse. Thank god for our mothers who make sure we have something to eat. So much love to you for writing this. ❤️
This made me hungry, just reading it. When I got to "has worked in publishing for over 10 years, editing everything from literary magazines," I read "has worked in publishing for over 10 years, eating everything from literary magazine. . ." I swear that's true.
This is so important. When my family lost everything, suddenly and unexpectedly, we also didn't have enough money for food because my income was too high, even though I could barely pay for rent. We relied heavily on meals from the church.
I unfortunately experienced something similar, with less support and it was heart wrenching.
It angers me when moms go through this, especially when the other parent makes much more money.
I’m glad you have people who love you and help when they can, it makes a difference.
I pray this season passes soon for you and your baby.
Blessings!

I can't believe this is life for young people in the 21st century.
Please negotiate child support from your wealthy, entitled, critical ex ASAP.
No one who works hard, has parents, etc. should settle for life like this.
BTW: fast food isn't healthy, nor is all processed and canned food items. Best wishes from a stroke survivor who once consumed all that crap.
