"How to Write the Truth" begins online in January
Open Secrets Magazine is a lit mag and community for sharing personal stories about all the subjects we’re taught to keep “secret” and now we’re offering online writing classes and workshops to help you tell your truth.
Author Minda Honey will lead “How to Write the Truth: Personal Essay & the Art of Honesty.” This 4-week class will be an exploration of how we tell the truth and our Truth. We’ll read writers like T Kira Madden, Melissa Febos, Natalie Lima and Hanif Abdurraqib. Each class Minda will provide a writing prompt and there will be time to share your writing (if you want!).
Minda Honey (she/her) is the author of “The Heartbreak Years,” a memoir about dating in Southern California in her 20s set against the backdrop of the Obama Years. Her writing has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, The Oxford American, Longreads, and elsewhere.
