How cool to see Open Secrets announce your book as the January read; I just finished it a few days ago. A masterpiece. Veena, you are an excellent writer. The last few pages were so intriguing, and reminded me of an exhibit I saw once called "Crazy Quilt" - a quilt embroidered with quotes from supposedly "crazy" women in the past. One read "The trio approached my bed, and each doctor took my pulse, and then without asking a single question both pronounced me insane." Who decides another person's level of mental fitness? And why is there no accounting for situational vs. organic? Thank you so much for your personal story. So glad for you AND your parents; I really felt for them, throughout the book.

I am intrigued. I have a feeling you might make me understand how thoughtful, intelligent people's brains become manipulated and used against them.

I sure hope there is more to the story later on. The bottom line is your mom dropped you off, that's how. How could SHE have known it was a cult?
