This is lovely. I’m going through chemo and expect to lose my hair. So far, my hair has just lost volume and is shedding, but I’m preparing for what’s coming. My hairdresser friend had offered to come over to shave my head if needed and I’ve wondered what sort of ceremony to have. This gives me inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful essay, which is about cancer, but even more than that, is also about endurance, longevity, faith, time, and love ❤️

I love this essay. My friends had a painting party on my head when I was in chemo (an updated version of a coloring party) and it was such a positive thing for me after I had to shave all my hair off. I'm so glad she's fully recovered.

What a heartwarming story. I worked in a cancer treatment center for 15 years, and I know from experience this is for the best.it’s a positive, empowering move for the woman to have her hair cut by those she loves or some even do it themselves. I find your story sounds like the best way to tackle this sensitive issue.

I’m so proud Susan Gower is my sister-in-law and that we have a writers bond. All of her pieces come from her heart and evoke a life well-lived. Thanks for this beautiful piece, Suzie.
