Expanding off your obsession with surfing, I got so into Windsurfing. Even though I was 2.5 hours away from a beach, I just kept drawing California sunsets and windsurfing across waves.
I wish I had been closer to an ocean! Unfortunately, the Rio Grande was not a surf-worthy river. But I love your story and it reminds me that it’s possible to go the distance for things that are important.
