I've been busy planning this AMAZING event on Saturday, May 3 in NYC and will be sending a proper newsletter soon but wanted to make sure you know about it because tickets are going fast! Jane Pratt (of Sassy, Jane, xoJane, and now, Another Jane Pratt Thing) is our keynote speaker and there are over 2 dozen memoir authors, essayists, storytellers, and editors from Narratively, HuffPost Personal, Another Jane Pratt Thing, HarperCollins, and Random House speaking. Join us for our first event, personal storytelling summit Open Secrets Live, May 3, 2025 in New York City

Exciting news: Early bird tickets for our first in-person event, personal storytelling summit Open Secrets Live, to be held in New York City (Upper East Side), are on sale now on Eventbrite! These $25 tickets are available through January 31, 2025 or until they sell out. The price will increase to $35 on February 1. See the Eventbrite link for the planned schedule and speaker lineup, which are subject to change.

As an Open Secrets subscriber, you’re the first to be notified that tickets are available. We are only releasing 120 tickets at this time and expect them to sell out quickly so if you plan to attend, please purchase your tickets now.

Join us for our first in-person event, Open Secrets Live, on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m on New York’s Upper East Side (76th and York). Hosted by Open Secrets Magazine editor Rachel Kramer Bussel, this 1-day personal storytelling event will feature contributors to Open Secrets Magazine along with essayists, memoir authors, and storytellers from various fields sharing their life stories and the power of baring their souls to the public. Topics will include relationships, family, identity, LGBTQIA life, mental health, and work.

There will also be an editors panel where editors from publications including Narratively and Another Jane Pratt Thing and others, along with an editors from HarperCollins and Random House, reveal what types of essays and manuscripts they’re looking for. This panel will be geared toward essay writers and there will be time for Q&A.

Light refreshments will be served. The event will be held in an ADA compliant space.

Attendees will receive a credit for a free audiobook from sponsor Libro.fm.
